Donor Lungs Safely Preserved up to 20 Hours Out of Body Prior to Transplantation27 April 2025
At the ISHLT Annual Meeting in Boston, Jitte Jennekens shared that the HOPE technique safely preserves donor lungs outside the body for up to 20 hours. In a study of 12 HOPE cases, all lungs were successfully transplanted with outcomes matching traditional methods, showing promise for extended lung preservation.
