International Visiting Scholarship
Scholarship Amount: $6,000 USD
Relaunched by the Grants Committee last year, the International Visiting Scholarship facilitates the exchange of knowledge and skillsets related to advanced heart and lung diseases and their treatments (e.g., heart and lung transplantation). This scholarship can be used to send an individual to a selected institution to learn OR to bring someone from the selected institution to the recipient’s institution to teach. Up to five (5) scholarships will be awarded annually.
NEW: ISHLT Early Career / Trainee Research Grant on ISHLT Molecular and/or Genetic Biomarkers for Advanced Organ Failure and Post-Transplant Care
Grant Amount: Up to $40,000 USD
Supported by Natera
The purpose of this grant is to support research focused on the novel clinical implications and/or utility of non-invasive molecular and/or genetic testing for patients with advanced organ failure or in post-transplant care. The grant will encourage studies addressing pre-transplant, post-transplant, and/or mechanical circulatory support (MCS) patient populations.
The intent is that the grant recipient(s) will be early career faculty (whose training was completed fewer than six years ago) or a mentored trainee.

ISHLT Molecular Biomarker Study Using Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Analysis in Lung Transplantation
Grant Amount: Up to $40,000 USD
Supported by CareDx
This research should utilize the support of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning in addition to blood, body fluid or tissue-based molecular biomarkers to improve access and/or clinical outcomes in lung transplantation.
Two grants will be awarded— One designated for research to be performed in a laboratory located in the United States, and one for research to be performed in a laboratory located outside the United States.
ISHLT Acellular Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion (EVLP) Research Grant
Grant Amount: Up to $37,500 USD
Supported by Lung Bioengineering
The purpose of this grant is to fund research that aims to develop further advancements in acellular Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion (EVLP) technology.
Research topics for this one-year grant could include any of a broad and diverse area of topics, including optimization of perfusion techniques, intervention and repair strategies, immunomodulation and reconditioning, and clinical outcomes research.
