Crossroads of Care - Cardio-Oncology After Heart Transplant and Durable LVAD
29 October, 2025 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. EDT
ISHLT and the International Cardio-Oncology Society Joint Webinar
As immune checkpoint inhibitors, CAR-T therapies, and other oncologic treatments are increasingly used across a range of malignancies, clinicians are encountering growing challenges in managing cancer in patients with heart transplants. Similarly, as the population ages and survival improves with durable LVAD support, the question of how best to approach cancer care in these patients is becoming more common. This joint session between ISHLT and IC-OS will feature real-world case presentations to highlight key considerations in the care of transplant and MCS recipients undergoing cancer therapy. Expert discussants will explore issues surrounding immunosuppression management, rejection risk, bleeding and thrombosis in the setting of chemotherapy, and strategies for multidisciplinary coordination. Attendees will come away with clinically actionable insights for navigating these complex scenarios.
