The Next Frontiers of Lung Transplant
25 September, 2025 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. EDT

Donor lung scarcity and post-transplant complications are challenging in the field of lung transplantation. In this forward-looking webinar, leading experts will explore emerging strategies that have the potential to redefine care and expand transplant eligibility. The session begins with a focus on lung transplantation in patients with lung cancer—an area once considered a contraindication, now undergoing a paradigm shift. Then, cutting-edge applications of machine learning to optimize recipient selection, predict outcomes, and enhance long-term graft survival will be described. Finally, an expert pharmacist will discuss promising new approaches to prevent chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD), including insights from the SCANCLAD study, the role of extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) immediately post-transplant, and the potential benefits of fundoplication. A live Q&A with the speakers will follow, offering attendees the opportunity to engage directly with the experts.
