Results from the 2025 ISHLT Workshop on Global Equitable Access to Heart and Lung Transplantation
The consortium report, Global Strategies to Improve Equitable Access to Heart and Lung Transplantation, showcases results from the 2025 ISHLT Workshop, Strategies for Global Equitable Access to Heart and Lung Transplantation, held in Boston alongside the ISHLT’s 45th Annual Meeting & Scientific Sessions. The report has been published in JHLT Open and is available to read online.
Led by Chairs Khadijah Breathett, MD, MS, FACC, FAHA, FHFSA and Luciano Potena, MD, PhD, and Focus Group Leaders Johanna Contreras, MD, MS; Sabra Lewswey MD, MPH; Alessandra A Grossi, PhD; and Kyung-Hee Kim, MD, PhD, the workshop addressed the inequities that exist in the global access of heart and lung transplantation and encouraged participants to develop actionable strategies to address healthcare disparities using the implementation science behavior change wheel framework.
These strategies may form the basis of global quality improvement and implementation research studies for transplantation equity across populations.
