SYMPOSIA SESSION TRANSLATION

GENERAL SESSION III

General Session III will feature a keynote address from Arun Sharma, PhD of Cedars-Sinai Regenerative Medicine Institute on how space medicine is shaping the future of transplantation and regenerative science. The session will also include the ISHLT Awards Presentation, a Featured Abstract presentation, and the highly anticipated President’s Debate, where Stephanie Chang, MD and Hermann Reichenspurner, MD, PhD will face off on whether or not robotics and AI assisted surgery will improve surgical outcomes.
CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE: ISHLT AWARDS PRESENTATION

Join ISHLT Grants Committee Chair Tereza Martinu, MD, MHS for the ISHLT 2026 Awards Presentation as she recognizes the recipients of 2025 and 2026 Research Grants and Travel Scholarships. She will also announce the recipients of the Challenge Grants and Abstract Awards, the finalists for which presented earlier this week here in Toronto.
During the presentation, ISHLT will also honor Robert Kormos, MD, FRCS(C), FACS as the 2026 recipient of the Amanda W. Rowe Distinguished Service Award. This award focuses on the non-scientific contributions to ISHLT as an organization and aims to recognize individuals for sustained, significant and outstanding service to ISHLT and the advancement of its mission.
