JHLT Call for Papers: Themed Issue on Device Therapies for Advanced Heart and Lung Disease
Issue Publication: March 2026
The available diagnostic and therapeutic options to manage patients with advanced heart and lung disease have expanded significantly over the past years with novel devices at the forefront of many of the most impactful advancements. New, innovative devices provide the clinician and patient with previously unrecognized insights regarding the natural history of disease, new markers of progression, heighted risk stratification, and unique therapeutic alternatives.
In recognition of these innovations, the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation (JHLT), an official publication of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT), will release a special issue in March 2026 dedicated to manuscripts exploring device therapies in advanced heart and lung disease. Submissions for this issue are now being accepted until Tuesday, 30 December, 2025.
We particularly welcome submissions focused on devices intended for the diagnosis, serial monitoring, or treatment of patients with advanced heart and lung disease. Devices used in the intra- or post-operative phase of transplantation will not be included in this Special Issue.
Please submit your work through the JHLT article submission system. When submitting your manuscript, please state in the cover letter that you would like your paper considered for the Special Issue and select “Special Issue: Device Therapies” from the “Article Type” pulldown menu.
For questions on submissions, please contact Managing Editor David Newcombe at heartandlung@stellarmed.com or jhlteditor@ishlt.org. We look forward to receiving your contributions.
