Policies
Committee Composition
The ISHLT Membership Committee shall consist of the following:
- Committee Chair serves a 2-year term and serves as an ex-officio member of the Leadership Advisory Forum. At the conclusion of their term, the Chair serves a 1-year term as Past Chair.
- Committee Members serve 3-year, renewable terms. The Committee will include diverse geographic, gender and professional specialty representation, including non-physician professional specialties, representatives from the Society’s four IDNs, and at least one Early Career member.
Committee Committee Responsibilities
The Committee promotes the growth and retention of membership within the Society by working with staff and the Society’s organizational components to develop strategies to remove barriers to participation and enhance the value of membership. To accomplish these objectives, the committee:
- Provides guidance on the development of surveys and other research instruments to evaluate members’ needs, interests and opinions.
- Utilizes survey results, research, and staff-generated analysis of membership data to identify opportunities to enhance membership value and growth and:
- Communicates these findings to the Board, Leadership Advisory Forum and/or Oversight Committees, and
- If directed by the Board, develops discrete programs and activities designed to positively impact the recruitment and retention of members.
- Provides feedback on communication strategies and language designed to engage, retain and recruit members.
- Evaluates and proposes equitable revisions to the Society’s membership categories and criteria and the dues structure, as necessary.
