ELSO/ISHLT Joint Session at 36th Annual ELSO Conference

During the 36th Annual Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) Conference in Oxon, Hill MD USA, the ISHLT and ELSO hosted a joint breakout session, Maximizing the Donor Pool: ECMO-Driven Advanced in Cardiothoracic Transplantation. The session included discussions on diagnosing brain dealth in the ECMO patient, ECPR to organ donation, the role of NRP and machine perfusion, ethical dilemmas, and DCD for pediatric heart and lung recipients.

The joint session was developed with the support of the ISHLT’s Advanced Heart Failure & Transplantation and Advanced Lung Failure & Transplantation Interdisciplinary Network Steering Committees. The program consisted of notable ISHLT leaders and members.
