Letter from the Program Chair

Stephan EnsmingerDear Colleague:

On behalf of Stuart Sweet, MD, PhD, President of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, the ISHLT Board of Directors, and the ISHLT2020 Scientific Program Committee, thank you for submitting your research and expertise to be shared with peers in the Society’s 40th Anniversary Meeting and Scientific Sessions to be held April 22-25, 2020, in Montreal, Canada.

We look forward to building on the tremendous success of ISHLT2019 in Orlando, Florida, by continuing to present some of the most ground-breaking investigative studies in the treatment of advanced heart and lung disease. The ISHLT welcomes submissions from all specialists engaged in treating advanced heart and lung disease, particularly those working on novel therapies. In addition, we especially encourage submissions of late-breaking clinical trials, which will be considered for a featured presentation in a Plenary Session. The presentation of these late-breaking trials is a critical component of the ISHLT Annual Meetings, both because of the impact they have and the dialogue they encourage.

ISHLT’s Annual Meetings are attended by the world’s premier specialists treating advanced heart and lung disease. What’s unique about ISHLT is the inter-disciplinary, multi-national perspective of both our attendees and our scientific content. This is one of ISHLT’s greatest strengths, and we hope you’ll enjoy taking full advantage of this invaluable educational experience. At the meeting, you’ll have numerous opportunities to network with other attendees, giving you access to peers from across a range of professional disciplines, institutions and countries. Our attendees give one of their highest rankings to the networking component of our meetings.

ISHLT’s Annual Meetings include a mix of invited lectures and scientific research presentations that offer something for all levels of expertise. What’s more, we cluster content of specialty areas whenever possible to allow attendees to make the best use of their limited time.

We look forward to learning more about your work and welcoming you to Montréal for ISHLT2020!

With best regards,

Stephan Ensminger, MD, DPhil
