The International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) is a not-for-profit, multidisciplinary, professional organization dedicated to improving the care of patients with advanced heart or lung disease through transplantation, mechanical support and innovative therapies via research, education and advocacy.

Heart and lung transplant recipients are highly susceptible to conventional and opportunistic infections, which represent a major cause of morbidity, graft dysfunction and mortality. This session will examine the risk factors relevant to heart and lung transplant recipients, and the syndromes associated with them, such as respiratory failure, sepsis, and CNS infection. -
